Amazing Me!

Calculus Test 2 I earned the highest grade in his classes again with a 28/24! On the actual test I got a 22/24 and the extra credit 6/13. The only problem on the test was I got a wrong Dervitative.

On my Causal Analysis Essay I earned an A for the first time! Woot Woot!

Science Test 2 I earned the highest grade in the class with a 94%! The average for the class was like 70%! And I only got 6 multiple choice questions wrong!

Then when we played BINGO I won a Starbucks gift card the first round! The professor told a DNA combination, we had to transcribe it into RNA then translate it into the amino acid! I won in ten minutes! She only had to call 6 DNA combination.

For my informative speech for Communications I earned a A on the writen porition and the speech itself!

Then today my Communications class was canceled, because the professor is sick. SO I got to go back to bed after turning in my persuasive speech stuff to the Arts and Sciences Department!

Life is GREAT!

Updates

Hello everyone!

Wow it seems like I have not updated anyone is so long! I have been so busy with classes, homework, work study, and clubs that I barely have a minute to myself. Luckily I am enjoying myself even though I get stressed on how busy I am.

For anyone that has not heard yet, I earned an A+ (52/41) on my first Calculus test. And in Science my first test score was 93/100! So I am pretty pleased with that. Both classes have a test coming up Monday so hopefully, I will continue to do well.

My English essays have been going pretty well. Raymond's Inspirations received a B and my Social Criticism Essay received a B+. After meeting with my professor I have an idea of what I am doing wrong so hopefully my Causal Analysis Essay that I turned in today earns the A, especially since it is worth more than the other two. If anyone wants to read essays that are not posted just tell me and I will send you a copy of it. The Social Criticism Essay and the Causal Analysis is on Eating Disorders.

My Public Speaking class is going wonderful! Tomorrow I get my grade for my first speech! I am so nervous! I also turn in my first speech analysis tomorrow, which I am suppose to be finishing up right now. :P But I needed a little break.

Work study is going well, except that I am not getting paid tomorrow like I should and I didn't receive my first paycheck either. Apparently, my time cards got lost so I have to resubmit them and hopefully get made for the 26 hours I have not got paid for and the 20 I am suppose to get paid for on the 28th.

Roommate situation is better! Thank goodness! Besides, I spend most of my time either in class or at the Downcity campus so I barely see them :D Normal roommates would agree I am the best roommate in the world, but they seem to disagree. How weird! I do not think they take into account we have opposite schedules for classes, so we would not be hanging out anyways.

Other than that I am giving mom date ideas for coming to CA and returning to RI for winter break after I hear from Alan's aunt. So Alan and my ticket will be purchased soon! I do have to say I am enjoying experiencing actual Fall though. Guess what? Leaves actually change to different colors throughout the season and stay that way for awhile before falling off the tree! Who would have thought that was possible! :D I crack myself up! As Carrie would say that is a knee slapper!

So far I have received letters and two packages! Granted on of the packages was medicine, but still. The feeling of getting snail mail makes me feel close to CA and all of you.

Miss everyone! Alright, time to get back to my speech analysis! Bye!

Love you!

Meeting Alan's Family

Tuesday night I had the pleasure of meeting Alan's mom, grandparents, aunt, baby cousin, older cousin and his wife. I fidgeted the whole way there, sneaked peeks at Alan, and tried to convince myself that I was likable. Alan's mom is in Providence for two weeks to help her mother with her father and of course see Alan.

The good news is Alan tells me his mom actually likes me though she says I talk loudly, with my hearing issues my volume has increased if you can believe that! I seemed to make a good impression on the others as well, which is a relief.

Apparently his aunt that I know well decided it was a great time to make sure I was embarrassed the entire night though. Every time I recovered from embarrassment she would say something else. Though I must admit his grandmother embarrassed me first.

Meeting your significant others family is stressful and nerve racketing. I cannot believe I made it through alive and with my checks not permanently red! :D

Goodnight All!

Bad Day

Mondays and Wednesday are official the worst days of the week, I despise them now!

First off, Calculus, the professor can not explain what is going on, he just can do the problem. Then he doesn't understand your question, but continues to answer a different question confusing you all the more. I was ready to throw my book and cry, when I saw my assignment sheet for the class. Alan had written, "Love you," on it. It calmed me down enough to get through the class without losing my mind.

Second off, English! Okay, this is suppose to be an honors college English class so why do I feel like I am in high school? The students don't participate, so I am left trying to hold a conversation/discussion with the professor. Really guys? Those that do, I am thankful for you.

Third off, Science. It ran late and I had to stay after to scan one of my group members notebooks because my copy went to the professor. Then there was so much o print and the printer was being rude.

Fourth off, I am sick of um, especially when it is every other word out of someone's mouth who is trying to explain something. Everyone around me does this, it is annoying. I use um but no to that extint.

The two things that saved this day were Alan and the thick chocolate milkshake we walked to Cold Stone to get me :D Hopefully today will be better.

(Might get to meet Alan's mother today, oh help me! I am scared!)

First Day At Work & Homework

My Federal Work Study is as a DA Assistant, working ten hours a weekend.

My Two Hours Today:

Sitting behind a desk, doing homework and occasionally saying, "Have a good day" or "Your ID please." Boring, boring, boring. But the good news is I did get all my science homework done, which was satisfying!

I did get to check in two guests for the hall, check two guests out, set packages on the ground, and put up posters around the two floors.

Luckily the person I was working with was nice and quiet, hopefully I get to work with her more. :D

Laundry day today at Alan's Aunt and Uncles' place, heading back to the dorms soon.

Calculus homework is finally done!! Limits are not so bad at the beginning it seems, mostly due to the fact I have the solutions manual which tells you how to do all the odd problems, so once you understand that you can do the even problems. I still want to know WHY the limits equal the value they do, WHY you do the process you do.

English teacher sent me an e-mail telling the class to take a test on grammar, I scored 74%, which makes me sad but oh well, nothing I can do about it.

For English I still have to read poems, write an analysis on one of them, write a social criticism poem, pick a topic for the social criticism essay, and read chapter nine. Grrrrr...looks like the library and I are going to be best friends for the next two days.

For public speaking I have to make an informative speech and have no idea what in the world  to do it on. So by Tuesday I need to pick a topic and find three sources for the speech. In addition I need to read two huge chapters for this class.

Anyways, just wanted to tell everyone how it was going. Bye!

Naps My New Best Friend

Sleep is starting to become something I only think about and desire. Between classes, homework, studying, dining, clubs, showering, and trying to spend time with Alan and others there is no time for sleep. And I haven't even started work study! Then I have lovely rommies who don't have to be up until two hours or later than me. So though they try to keep it down, they don't between the TV, talking, and giggling. Ipod doesn't work, I tried last night. So I don't get to bed till they do, which is extremely annoying I must say.

In the morning I only turn the one light on to put my chef uniform on )I can't do these dang buttons in the dark)! Then the roomie I share the one side of the room with complains, it is on for maybe five minutes..she needs to get over herself. I do everything else in the dark!

So as I was saying, naps are my best friends. And not the naps where you actually make up a lot of sleep in a little time. No, I don't have time for that, sillies. I mean the ones where your eyes, body, and mind rest but don't really sleep. Between lunch and science class Monday and Wednesday, I try to grab a little nap, like I did today. Honestly, without it I am not sure what I would do.

Today is my best friend/sister's graduation and I was not there. This is the first major event of hers I have missed, it made me cry after I was off the phone with her. Then I had to walk into a dining area full of people...and cry in front on them. Luckily Alan's shoulder is quiet comfortable. I miss her so much, wish I could have been in the crowd cheering her on. Luckily McKenzie sent me texts with Carrie in her outfit, man she looked good!

Work Study Schedule For Those That Care
Friday 10:00am-12:00
Saturday 12:00-2:00pm & 6:00-8:00pm
Sunday 10:00-2:00pm

Classes Today
Lets see here, I can already tell limits are going to haunt my dreams transforming them into nightmares. And really, why does my professor assume we should just get it, when he stated I know most of you have not taken calculus..it is rude. I know I am a college student, but even we need some instructions to understand the concepts. And what is with not going over properties, but expecting the book to magically speak English and teach us. Then referring us the the college's learning center where I am told there are NO calculus tutors. This is just great. Speaking of limits, I should be getting to my homework soon...(Don't freak not due till Monday).

English was okay, unfortunately that is the class that I lose my morning energy in. But I do stay awake and take notes, so no questions me. I am excited, we get to create a social criticism poem and essay. Any guesses what my are going to be about? Same-Sex Marriages...that is right. It brings me a but closer to Carrie, which is always a plus.

Last class of the day, Science. Interesting enough, this class was the best of the day. (I know I like all subjects but prefer math and English for academic classes). We did a group assignment in pieces and went over the answers in class. And we got ot text some of the answers to this web thing, that showed us the percentage of the different answers...that is cool! And my group was able to get 61 drops of water on a penny (the water couldn't spill over onto the table, winning us the extra credit quiz point on today's quiz (which I know I got a 5/5 on! so now 6/5...I am awesome!). Most groups thought we cheated, but we didn't! The professor even watched 20 of them and was quiet impressed with our technique!

Then dinner with Alan at Snowden, a buffet dining hall that takes our id card swipes. We get 15 swipes a week, in case you were wondering. (Meaning poptarts for breakfast most days!)

We have been at the library since 7 doing homework it took me 2 and 1/2 hours to read two chapters for public speaking granted I took lots of notes. Grrness (It is a word now!) Then forty minutes for JWU email, facebook, and blog. I still want to get calculus homework done so I should probably get going.

Bye till next time :D

The Basics of My College Life First Term

First off here is my schedule for all that are interested:
Monday and Wednesday:
Calculus (Honors Class)  9:20-11:15am
Honors English Composition  11:30am-1:25pm
Honors Life Science 3:50-5:35pm

Tuesday and Thursday:
Honors Public Speaking 9:20-11:15am

For my Federal Work Study Program I will be working as a Desk Assistant for East Residence Hall, basically checking people's ids and signing visitors in.  I am hoping this position will help me in my goal to becoming an RA next year and the following years.

I have joined the Culinary Special Functions Club, which is a great club for making connections in the industry. For example, we get to meet the male Sou Chef of Hells Kitchen and Masaharu Morimoto! Only those in the club get this opportunity and many more! Alan joined the club to and will be helping with the technology side and they will be getting him a chef uniform! Don't worry pictures will be up soon of both of us in our uniforms! This Friday we are working the ACF Practice at the Harborside campus, making sure they don't mess up our kitchens! :D

I also planned to join the Bridging Culinary Excellence Club, which is another club that offeres great connections in the industry. Between these two clubs many jobs, externships, and scholarships can be gained.

In addition, I have to join the Honosr Club as I am an University Honor Scholar. This means I graduate with honors, I get recognizance at graduation, on my diploma, and it goes on my resume. I missed the first meeting tonight, because I thought it was next Monday, so I will be able to catch everyone up at a later date.

Alright, that is all I can think of for now. I will keep everyone posted when I have time. Bye, I need to do some more homework! Love you all!
